Welcome to City Eyes Ophthalmic Opticians. We are ab exclusive independent clinic which was established in 1988 by Charles Babumba, BSc(Hons), DOpt, CCEH (Moorfields).
We are a forward-looking practice, with innovative ideas and a progressive approach to eye care services and treatment. In addition to the normal optician services, we offer risk-free eye corrective treatments in the form of Orthokeratology (OrthoK) and Colourimetry as well as pre-laser consultancy. Other specialist areas include: Macular Degeneration, Diabetes, Cataract, Glaucoma and the control of short-sightedness (Myopia) in children and young adults.
Our highly skilled staff regularly attend seminars and conferences in the USA, UK and the rest of Europe and trained to use our latest state-of-the-art hi-tech diagnostic equipment.
18+ Point Optical Health Examination
Looking after your optical health means a great deal more than just testing your eyes. This is why we conduct a detailed 18+ optical health analysis.
Your long-term, optical health depends on your eyes working together as a team. A crucial part of your Optical Health Analysis will be for us to test your pupil reflexes to check for possible damage to the nerves that serve your eyes.
If you regularly use computers and VDUs, we’ll carry out some key tests using the unique Prio-Vision Tester. This amazing equipment will simulate a computer screen at an appropriate working distance and its illumination is designed to determine and quantify the exact stress that your eyes are under when you are using a computer.
Ortho-K Overnight Lenses
Ortho-K overnight lenses correct vision without the need for contact lenses during the day. This is made possible by a specially designed Ortho-K contact lens that reverses the power of the cornea at the front of the eye during overnight wear. Once the full effect of the Ortho-K process has taken place the eye is effectively ‘normal’ and can see clearly during the day.
Although laser eye surgery is quite a safe procedure, there is always a possibility of experiencing problems, which maybe irreversable. However, if you stop wearing Ortho-K overnight lenses the eye goes back to normal, making them a truly risk free alternative to laser eye surgery.

- Individually Customised Soft, Rigid Gas Permeable and Hybrid Lenses.
- Coloured/Tinted Soft Lenses for Cosmetic or Treatment Purposes.
- Soft, Gas Permeable or Hybrid Lenses for Keratoconus and other Irregular Corneas (Ectasia).
